Coach Munchie is where basketball IQ meets biomechanics.
A multi-year All-Conference and All-Region performer at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, and 2006 Student-Athlete of the Year, Munchie built his reputation on discipline, detail, and durability. After graduation, he served as a Graduate Assistant teaching Gross Human Anatomy at Northern Illinois University (2006–2008), sharpening his understanding of how the human body actually works — not just how it looks on a whiteboard.
After relocating to the Detroit Metro area to serve as an engineer for the U.S. Department of Defense, Munchie partnered with Macomb County Cougars President Scott Johnson and helped develop some of the program’s most notable athletes, including:
JaVaughn Hannah (San Jose State / Western Michigan)
Matthew Coffey (Wayne State / Morehouse)
From 2017–2021, he continued impacting the local basketball community as a coach at Mount Clemens High School before launching The MVMT School — a sport-specific strength and mobility company designed to help middle school, high school, and former athletes build resilient joints, explosive power, and long-term durability.
In 2025, his work was recognized nationally in Men’s Health and Women’s Health, highlighting his innovative approach to joint-specific strength training and injury risk reduction.
Today, Coach Munchie helps Cougars athletes train smarter through:
DIY Online Training Portals
Small Group Basketball Performance Sessions
1-on-1 Joint-Specific Strength & Mobility Coaching
If you’re serious about separating yourself — and staying on the floor — training with The MVMT School is the best decision you could make.”

In 2025, Men’s Health and Women’s Health selected an elite group of fitness professionals for their Strength in Diversity initiative — a national program that spotlights trainers from underrepresented communities and equips them with mentorship, top-tier resources, and opportunities to be featured across both brands.
This program has become one of the most respected platforms in the wellness and strength world, designed to make the fitness industry more inclusive and representative of the people who train, coach, and lead in communities across the country. To date, over 50 trainers have completed the initiative.
We’re especially proud that Coach Ray “Munchie” Muskeyvalley — longtime Cougars coach, Degreed Biomedical engineer, and Founder of “The MVMT School” — was included among this remarkable cohort. His training philosophy — grounded in joint-specific strength, mobility, and real-world athlete development — was featured alongside leading voices in fitness and sports performance.

Coach Munchie’s inclusion in this initiative underscores his commitment to evidence-based development, inclusive coaching, and athlete longevity — the same principles he brings to every Cougar player, parent, and program participant.
We’re honored to see his work recognized at a national level — and even more excited about what it means for the future of Cougar athletes.”
